Woman’s lost luggage ends up in Hollywood homeless encampment

An American Airlines passenger discovered his lost suitcase had landed in a homeless encampment in Hollywood, California, and was missing its contents.

Grace told KABC-TV that she flew from Dallas to Hollywood Burbank Airport, but her luggage took a much longer route.

“I went to Denver. And [from] “From Denver, back to Dallas, and then finally back to Burbank five days later,” she told the TV news station.

Fox News Digital reached out to Grace, American Airlines and Burbank Police for comment but did not receive a response.

At one point, Grace was informed that her package had been found and delivered to her home, but an Apple AirTag found in the bag indicated it had been placed in a different location.

“I looked at my airtag and it said I was in Hollywood. I saw my bag moving slowly down Western Avenue and knew something was wrong,” she said.

AirTag eventually dropped the bag off near the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Western Avenue in Hollywood, where she realized it was in the middle of a Los Angeles homeless camp.

“I was in shock. I was in shock, I just couldn’t believe it,” Grace said. “I was so shocked I didn’t even know what was going on around me. Where are my things? Where do I look?”

“I started crying and grabbing my things. Street vendors saw me and were crying and trying to grab my things from their carts,” she added.

Grace was with a friend who paid the homeless man to retrieve the suitcase, and the airline said it was investigating why it traveled so far and ended up in the hands of a homeless person.

“We are currently investigating what happened here. In the meantime, our team members are reaching out to the customer to offer their apologies and resolve the issue.”
