Employee Arrested for Inappropriate Behavior at Care Facility
A woman working at a care facility for adults with disabilities in Florida was taken into custody last week after allegedly behaving inappropriately with a patient in Panama City.
Police received a report on January 15 regarding potential abuse involving an adult with a disability, as revealed in court documents.
Officials mentioned that the individuals featured in a video appeared to be mute and frail, making it impossible for them to consent to the actions displayed.
The video, which authorities obtained, depicted multiple women engaging in a sexually suggestive dance known as twerking in front of a disabled patient. One of the women reportedly made physical contact by pushing her chest near the patient’s face and placing a foot on the patient while dancing.
Josalyn Janeice Hart, 29, an employee at the facility, was observed in the video dancing on a sink and making small movements over a table where at least two disabled individuals were seated.
The video did not show Hart directly touching the patients, but it was reported that other women saw her twerking close to the faces of the vulnerable individuals.
Hart is suspected of neglecting to report any physical interaction involving the patients.
Authorities confirmed that the patients looked as if they were unable to consent to such actions.
She has been charged with indecent exposure toward a vulnerable adult and failure to report abuse and neglect. It’s uncertain whether Hart still holds her position at the facility, and the other individuals seen in the video may also face charges. The name of the facility has not been disclosed.
Hart was arrested on Tuesday and subsequently released from Bay County Jail on Wednesday.
Some online reactions raised questions about why only Hart was facing charges. Comments included inquiries about why the other women were not held accountable.
One user simply asked, “What happened to professionalism?”
This situation echoes a different incident from a year ago, where a healthcare worker in Georgia was accused of striking a disabled patient and posting the act on TikTok for social media engagement.
