Working Families Party Targets John Fetterman in Pennsylvania Primary

The Pennsylvania branch of the Working Families Party has unveiled a new website aimed at challenging Senator John Fetterman in the upcoming primary election. Their message? “We endorsed John Fetterman in 2022. Since then, he has sold us short. It’s time to replace him,” says a statement featured prominently on PrimaryFetterman.com, a project funded by the Working Families Party PAC.

The site criticizes Fetterman for allegedly supporting President Trump’s nominees more than any other Democratic senator and for frequently missing votes and Senate business. “We deserve more recognition,” the website claims. FOX News Digital has reached out to Fetterman’s office for a response, but has not yet received a reply. Since the announcement of this primary challenge back in November, Fetterman has defended his record, suggesting that despite any opposition, he remains committed to working collaboratively for Pennsylvania.

Interestingly, Fetterman, who won his senate seat in 2022, will not face re-election until November 2028. In light of the Working Families Party’s initiative, they mentioned on social media that they are “training potential candidates, recruiting volunteers, and soliciting donations to defeat him.” Those who have previously donated to Fetterman’s campaign are encouraged to request refunds easily through the new site.

The Working Families Party describes itself as a “multiracial party that fights for workers over bosses and for people over those in power.” In a clear dig at certain Democratic stances, Fetterman recently urged his party to steer clear of advocating extremist positions, referencing the need to “secure our borders and deport all criminals” rather than abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In a somewhat surprising turn, he also remarked that he would support military action by former President Trump against Iran if it became necessary, a stance some Democrats might find contentious. Fetterman articulated his views clearly, noting that his unique position allows him to advocate for pragmatic approaches rather than extreme changes.

Overall, this developing narrative surrounding Fetterman marks a significant shift in Pennsylvania politics as tensions rise ahead of the primary.
