World Cup 2026: Megan Rapinoe raises concerns about the campaign slogan of the US men's soccer team

Former U.S. women’s soccer player Megan Rapinoe recently commented on the U.S. men’s national soccer team’s World Cup campaign during a podcast episode. She seemed to poke fun at their new campaign titled “Never Chase Reality,” which is preparing for the 2026 World Cup.

This 90-second video features narration by Marcello Hernandez. The team described “Never Chase Reality” as encapsulating their path to 26 years old.

On her podcast “A little more,” which she co-hosts with Sue Bird and sportscaster Katie Nolan, Rapinoe remarked on the campaign’s tagline. She expressed some disbelief, saying, “I don’t think I’m saying what you think I’m saying,” and questioned why they hadn’t kept the phrase “dream big.” It struck her as rather pessimistic, conveying a sense of self-doubt within the team.

Hernandez shared his perspective on the campaign, stating, “This is more than just about soccer; it’s about the American dream. Never chasing reality translates to dreaming despite the odds.” He added that he has been a soccer fan since a young age and felt privileged to express his passion through this project.

Despite high expectations surrounding the U.S. men’s team, often referred to as a “golden generation,” their success on the international stage has been limited. The U.S. made it to the finals in 2022 but lost to the Netherlands after tying with England in their group.

This coming June, the United States will face off against Paraguay and Australia for a chance to secure a spot in the final tournament, stirring curiosity about which teams will advance to the UEFA playoffs.
