Brevard County, Florida, Sheriff William Ivey said 29-year-old Blake Robinson was arrested on suspicion of attempted car break-in and was “beaten to death” by the car’s 66-year-old owner.
Fox News report The incident occurred early Thursday morning.
In a Facebook post, Sheriff Ivey explained that the vehicle’s owner, a 66-year-old man, heard strange noises outside his home and discovered Robinson attempting to break into the 66-year-old man’s vehicle.
The 66-year-old man returned to the house, called 911 and then went back outside, where the violence occurred.
Sheriff Ivy I have written:
“A resident called 911 early yesterday morning to report that they heard a noise outside their home and went to check it out. Once outside they found a man named Blake Robinson who had made the stupid mistake of trying to break into a car that was obviously not his. The victim went to find his cell phone so he could call police, but when he returned outside to confront Robinson he was attacked, punched in the head and thrown to the ground. Despite then being kicked in the head by Robinson, the victim was able to defend himself and punch Robinson, knocking him backwards and fleeing.”
He added: “Officers arrived on scene and were able to quickly take Robinson into custody as he appeared to be struggling to get up off the ground after being slammed on his buttocks by the 66 year old man!! Yes tough guy Robinson got manhandled by a 66 year old man but thankfully he only needed a short medical treatment and suffered no serious injuries!!”
Robinson was taken to a hospital to be examined and treated for his injuries and was charged with “larceny of an unoccupied vehicle and assault of a person 65 years of age or older.”
