A professional wrestler has been charged with felony lure and assault after an alleged victim sought help through a note left at a sandwich shop in Florida, according to authorities.
Jordan Williams, a 34-year-old wrestler who goes by Jaden Steele in the ring, was arrested following an investigation that included reviewing surveillance footage from Jersey Mike’s. This all came about after the note was discovered, as reported by NBC 15 News.
Eleanor Coffee, a sandwich maker, described finding a crumpled note on the bathroom floor. The note stated, “Please help. I’m at this address in Navarre. Call the police and do a wellness check.” After reading it, Coffee promptly informed her manager and dialed 911.
The note contained alarming details about what the victim was experiencing. It mentioned, “Unless my Hyundai Kona is in the driveway… I just want to go home to my kids and family.” It seemed to convey a sense of immediate danger, as the victim feared the person controlling her phone would be alerted if she reached out for help.
According to the arrest report, the note was found shortly before closing time on May 27th. Thanks to the information provided in the note, officers were able to locate the woman.
Investigators identified Williams as the suspect after reviewing the footage. Chief Tifuft from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that Williams has a troubling history, stating this was the third incident involving domestic violence.
Deputies eventually found the alleged victim at a home just a short distance from where the note was discovered. She exhibited visible injuries and was taken to the hospital for suspected fractures and other trauma.
Reports indicated a pattern of long-term abuse over several months, consisting of isolation and physical attacks. One account described an incident in which he allegedly held a knife near her throat and physically assaulted her.
The arrest report further noted that she had been threatened multiple times, with claims that Williams had previously held her captive for two days, during which time he tied her to a bed and subjected her to degrading treatment.
Upon his initial court appearance on May 29th, Williams faced multiple charges related to domestic violence, including felony trickery and aggravated assault. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains in custody at the Santa Rosa County Jail.
His next court date is scheduled for June 19th. Chief Tifuft commented, “Anyone who does that to another woman doesn’t deserve to walk freely in our community,” echoing a sentiment that seems to resonate widely.
