Kelani Jordan Wins NXT Women’s Championship
Kelani Jordan, a rising star in WWE NXT, has added yet another accomplishment to her impressive wrestling career. Just four years after joining the company and training at the Performance Center, Jordan made history by becoming the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion. Recently, at the Heatwave event, she secured the NXT Women’s Championship by defeating Kendal Grey, marking her first chance at the title.
In a recent interview, Jordan shared her thoughts on her achievements, saying, “It feels great. Also, it’s a good reminder, like, whenever I find myself feeling a bit down or in a rut—wondering what’s happening—I can reflect on my accomplishments. I was the first North American champion, a TNA Knockouts champion, and now I’m the NXT women’s champion.” She pauses, allowing herself a moment of pride, adding that these titles reflect her talent and capabilities as a wrestler.
This year, Jordan has been vocal about commanding respect from fans and her peers. She confidently stated in May that she believes she’s superior to the women who moved up to Raw and SmackDown after WrestleMania 42. Now, with the championship title in her possession, she feels she has proof to back up her claims.
When asked if she feels she has earned the respect of her fellow competitors, she affirmed, “Yes, absolutely. There’s definitely a target on my back now, even more so because of the title. But I think when people step into the ring with me, they know they’re in for a serious challenge.” She continued by acknowledging that holding the title naturally commands a certain level of respect, as it is a testament to her hard work and achievements.
On Tuesday night, Jaida Parker was the first contender to step forward against Jordan. Parker recently enjoyed a significant victory in a submission match against Nattie at Heatwave, showcasing she is a formidable challenger. Jordan remarked on Parker’s challenge, “Yeah, I expected someone would come out, and I wasn’t surprised it was her—we’ve had our history.” With a touch of confidence, she noted that while Parker may be skilled with words, she believes her own abilities in the ring will speak louder when they face off.
Jordan and Parker’s championship match is slated for this Tuesday on the CW Network, promising fans an exciting showdown.
