X makes Grok AI chatbot available to Premium subscribers but still cannot be used by nonpaying users

Elon Musk’s X will make xAI’s Grok chatbot available to premium tier subscribers after announcing last month that it would make the tool available to more paying users.

Social Media Platform Help Center Grok is It will continue to be unavailable to non-paying users. AI tools are only available to Premium and Premium+ users in certain regions.tech crunch report Paid users will be able to use Grok in two modes: “Regular Mode” or “Fun Mode.”

Like other large-scale language modeling products, Grok comes with labels that suggest it may return inaccurate answers. This seems to suggest that AI tools are not yet mature, and users need to be aware of the shortcomings of such technology.

One way AI chatbots can be used is to summarize the stories that are trending around the world. Grok, Jeff Bezos, and NVIDIA-endorsed Perplexity AI are all moving into this space.

However, Musk’s Grok appears to have been inaccurate in key headlines, potentially misleading chatbot users.

Last week, Grok created a fake headline that read, “Iran attacks Tel Aviv with large missile.” Although the headline seemed like a possibility, given the situation in the Middle East, Iran did not attack Israel with a large missile.

mashable report: “What’s even more concerning is that the fake headline was apparently generated by Grok, X’s own official AI chatbot, and then promoted by Explore, X’s trending news product, on the first day of the updated version of the feature. is.”

Mashable pointed out that one of the reasons Musk’s platform allowed this to happen was the lack of a “human editor.” In 2020, X (previously known as He Twitter) assembled a team of human editors to bring trends and news in context. However, after Musk took over the company in 2022, he appears to have scrapped the concept of “human editors.”

Shortly after taking over the social media platform, Musk wrote: “Nothing has changed in content moderation, and even though we have done everything we can to appease activists, activist organizations are still advertising Twitter has seen a huge drop in revenue, mainly because of the pressure. It’s a mess! They’re trying to destroy free speech in America.”

X has announced that Grok will be available at the end of 2023. The post even suggests that users should be aware that chatbots may give inaccurate answers to prompts, noting that “Grok is an AI modeled after The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It aims to answer almost everything, and even suggest what questions to ask to make things even more difficult.” ! ”

“Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and tends to be rebellious, so don’t use it if you don’t like humor. Grok’s unique and fundamental advantage is that Real-time knowledge, on the 𝕏 platform, to answer tough questions that most other AI systems refuse to answer.Grok is still a very early beta product, and the best you can do with 2 months of training. Therefore, we expect rapid improvement with weekly use.Help.”

Musk has certainly signaled that he wants to eliminate censorship on his platform, and has differentiated Company X from platforms like Facebook and Instagram, but he is concerned about the potential for Grok to generate false headlines and other misleading information. It seems like something needs to be done to prevent it from generating certain information.
