Earlier this summer, we talked about this video the NFL put together to prank some freshmen with the subhead: “We Must Protect Xavier Leggett at All Costs.” . We also talked about his surprising background, including losing his parents. Leggett came into the league with both an emotional backstory and an accent to match.
The Panthers rookie is certainly an easy player to root for, and on Sunday he accomplished something for the first time in his NFL career.
He reached the end zone.
Leggett completed his first touchdown pass in the NFL on a crossing route, and Andy Dalton scored on a perfect rookie throw. From there, Leggett celebrated, as you might expect given his history.

It's been a tough week in North Carolina, where residents are beginning to recover from the effects of Hurricane Helen. Hopefully the Panthers and their attractive rookie can help a little.
