Yankees’ Gerrit Cole ‘concerned’ about possible need for elbow surgery

Gerit Cole said he was “worried” about the elbow injury he suffered after the start of recent spring training.

Cole was asked if he was worried about him getting surgery on the same elbow that was closed for most of the first half of last season, Cole said. I want the best. ”

But Cole understands the reality that he has elbow problems with consecutive spring training.

He was able to rehabilitate his injuries a year ago and is waiting to get feedback from other doctors before making any decisions about this treatment.

He added the injury, “We have our first idea.”

Cole said he felt good during his final start, but that changed that night.

“When I got home it started hurting more and more,” Cole said. “Something was not right.”

He called the pain “surprising.” Sleeping was tough. ”

The injury came after Cole and the Yankees changed his offseason throw program, including that he would throw in November.

“We came up with a plan to mitigate the risks and I did it,” Cole said. “I felt the best after a while. [to the last start]. ”

He joined Lewis Gill as concerns about rotational injuries, and Giancarlo Stanton and DJ lemahieu were also sidelined by injuries.

Cole called the moment of injury at camp “pretty cruel.”

And of his own injury, Cole said, “You take risks every year. It's difficult.”

Cole hopes to get more answers soon, calling this elbow sensation “almost the same as what he suffered a year ago.

“I still have some hopes,” Cole said.
