Jon Barty, who started the Yankees' three postseason games as a first baseman while Anthony Rizzo was out with a broken finger, was not tendered by the team by Friday's deadline, the Post reported. I admitted it.
Barty was acquired from the Marlins last spring in a three-team trade following the injury to DJ LeMahieu, but he struggled with injuries for much of the year and appeared in just 25 regular-season games.
And while the Yankees await free agency for Juan Soto, they avoided arbitration and agreed to a $5 million contract with another outfielder, Trent Grisham, acquired in the same trade with San Diego. Grisham played in 76 regular season games with the Yankees, posting a .675 OPS, but did not play in the playoffs.
The Mets announced that right-hander Grant Hartwig, left-hander Alex Young and outfielder Alex Ramirez were non-tendered.
They also agreed to a one-year contract with Sean Reid-Foley.
