Yankees’ Oswaldo Cabrera expresses gratitude to fans in heartfelt message

Oswald Cabrera Suffers Injury in Yankees Victory Over Mariners

In a recent game against the Seattle Mariners, Oswald Cabrera, the 26-year-old utility player for the New York Yankees, sustained a serious ankle injury during the team’s 11-5 win.

Reflecting on the incident, Cabrera shared a heartfelt message on social media late Thursday, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support he received. “After a really tough night, dealing with this painful twist of my ankle, I was flooded with negative thoughts. But I didn’t let them take over. When I woke up, the first thing I noticed was the incredible number of messages from family, friends, fans, coaches, and teammates,” he wrote.

He described the moment as a blessing: “I dropped my phone on the bed, smiling, and thought, ‘Wow, I am truly blessed.’” In his post, Cabrera updated everyone that he had successfully undergone surgery for the injury. This experience, he mentioned, will remain unforgettable for both him and his family, and he’s thankful for the infusion of support he has received.

“My journey back to the field starts today. Because of all of you, I feel more motivated than ever. With the strength I’ve always had and the beautiful energy you provide me, I promise to return,” he stated.

Cabrera also expressed appreciation for the teammates who visited him at the hospital, especially considering the hospital access was limited that night. “I know my teammates wanted to see me right after the game, but it wasn’t possible. Still, they came without having eaten anything yet,” he noted, mentioning specific players like Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe.

Details of the Injury

The injury occurred during the top of the ninth inning while Cabrera was running the bases. He was on third base when Aaron Judge hit a fly ball to right field. As the ball was caught, Cabrera attempted to dash home, but in an effort to evade the tag from the Mariners’ catcher, his ankle buckled, resulting in significant pain.

This season, Cabrera has made a noticeable impact, playing a substantial role in the Yankees’ lineup. As of now, he has a batting average of .243, with one home run and 11 RBIs across 34 games played. Over his entire four-year career, his stats show a batting average of .234 with 34 home runs.
