Josh Lucas and Briana Ruffalo Tie the Knot in Vatican City
Josh Lucas and Briana Ruffalo have tied the knot, just a year after their engagement in Italy. The actor, known for his role in Sweet Home Alabama, and the ABC7 Los Angeles meteorologist exchanged vows on July 18th in a stunning ceremony in Vatican City.
Ruffalo shared a series of enchanting black and white photos from the wedding on Instagram, expressing her joy: “We are incredibly blessed to receive this sacrament together in the heart of the Catholic Church and the sacred city.”
Lucas dressed elegantly in a classic black tuxedo, while Ruffalo surprised everyone with a strapless lace gown. In a heartfelt message, Lucas told his bride, “I love you. It’s one of the best days of my life. I’m very grateful.”
On his own Instagram, the 54-year-old actor gave fans a glimpse of the wedding, thanking those who helped make it happen. His gratitude extended to various wedding planners, indicating the support they received during the planning process.
This joyful occasion came nearly two years after the couple first met, and just a year following their engagement during another visit to Italy.
Reflecting on their relationship, Ruffalo recalled: “This fall, almost two years ago, Josh stepped into my life without any expectations. We knew almost immediately that we had found our people on every level in ways we had never experienced.”
She fondly remembered saying yes to his proposal: “This was the easiest and best question I’ve ever answered. So here I am, my love, my best friend forever.”
Yet, despite the romance, Ruffalo isn’t shy about keeping it real regarding Lucas’s iconic film role. Earlier this year, he humorously acknowledged that his wife is not exactly a fan of Sweet Home Alabama. “From the first day, she was like, ‘Oh, you were the other guy,'” he laughed in an interview. “She stole her from Patrick, so I didn’t like you,” referring to Patrick Dempsey’s character.
Even during a movie night, Ruffalo remained enthusiastic about her stance. Lucas mentioned, “We actually saw some of it once, but she fell asleep in 10 minutes and was still like, ‘I’m still Team Patrick.'” That pretty much sums it up!
