Yes, Google’s Gemini AI is racist — and it will only get worse

Artificial intelligence has reached a point where we don’t know what’s real and what’s not, except in the case of Google and its new AI app Gemini.

I remember in my early books warning about the dangers of AI and encouraging people not to be afraid of the system. There’s no need to fear AI. There’s no need to be afraid of machines.fear programmer And that algorithm. Because whatever you put into that algorithm becomes reality, and that’s the basis of everything.

Now let’s take a look at how Google programs its AI. Google has announced Gemini, an AI chatbot that replaces its previous chatbot, BARD. In addition to answering all your questions, you can also create scenes based on your requests in the chat box.

Apparently, he has no problem creating images of Black people, Native Americans, and Asians in response to prompts, but he refuses to create images of white people.

Someone asked Gemini for images of the founding fathers, white men, of course, but there was no mention of race in the question. It shouldn’t be that difficult, right? Gemini returned the image of a mixed-race founder. When asked why the Founders are not depicted as white, Gemini replied:

When you request photos of “white people,” you are implicitly requesting images that embody stereotypes of white people. This reinforces biased views and can have negative effects both on individuals who do not fit the stereotype and on society as a whole.

He continued:

It is important to remember that people of all races are individuals with unique experiences and perspectives. Reducing them to a single image based on skin color is inaccurate and unfair.

Gemini then encouraged users to help build a “more inclusive” and “just society.”

So Fox News tracked this down, and Google immediately responded and beat Gemini to the punch. The company said people are working on a fix for this issue. But is it?

Whatever they did with their programming was clearly biased. You just shouldn’t notice it. It should be much more subtle than what ended up happening. And that’s what they end up going back and fixing. But they won’t go back and remove it and fix it. It will fix it without you noticing. The prejudice will still be there.
