Yoenis Cespedes declares his Mets reunion desires on Instagram

Yoenis Cespedes is eager to reunite with the Mets.

The former Major League outfielder expressed his desire to play for Queen's again during a livestream from. Instagram account NYM_news on wednesday.

“Ready to play, but only for the Mets,” Cespedes wrote on his official Instagram account.

The Cuban native has been away from the majors since opting out of the 2020 season, where he appeared in eight games with the Mets, due to concerns about COVID-19.

Sources told the Post at the time that Cespedes left the team in part out of frustration over not getting enough playing time and a big performance bonus.

In 2021, Cespedes is aiming to return, holding an 11-team showcase in Fort Pierce, Florida, and briefly discussing the possibility of a reunion with the Mets, but the outfielder is not willing to play in the minors. As a result, negotiations broke down. .

Cespedes, 39, is completely away from professional baseball after the 2022-23 season, when he played for Aguilas Cibaenhas in the Dominican Republic Winter League.

The Mets acquired Cespedes at the 2015 MLB trade deadline in exchange for pitcher Michael Fulmer and pitcher Luis Cessa.

Before the 2017 season, Cespedes signed a four-year, $110 million contract with the Mets.

Injuries, including separate surgeries to remove calcifications in both heels, hampered his later years with the Mets, appearing in just 127 games from 2017 to 2020.

Over five seasons in the Orange and Blue, Cespedes hit .279/.344/.539 with 76 home runs and 205 RBIs, making the National League All-Star team and finishing eighth in 2016 NL MVP voting. He achieved great results such as entering the university.

After defecting from Cuba in 2011, Cespedes played a total of eight seasons in the majors with the Mets, Athletics, Red Sox, and Tigers.
