Yoshinobu Yamamoto Shines on the Golf Course
Though the sun hasn’t fully risen over Camelback Ranch yet, Yoshinobu Yamamoto is already honing his skills off the baseball field.
It’s not about warming up on the mound this time. Instead, he’s showing off his golf swing.
As pitchers and catchers from the Dodgers gathered for spring training on Friday, a video surfaced of the 2025 World Series MVP demonstrating a smooth swing on an Arizona golf course. His right-handed swing looked powerful, compact, and surprisingly polished. The way he twisted through his hips reminded some of his pitching style, finishing with a flair that’s distinctly Yamamoto, which might even evoke thoughts of a certain well-known golf swing.
One enthusiastic Dodgers fan on Reddit noted, “Our MVP has a great golf swing too!” This sentiment encapsulates what many online have concluded: Yamamoto tackles everything with full commitment.
He’s not alone in his golf aspirations. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is known for his love of the sport, while catcher Will Smith and outfielder Mookie Betts also enjoy spending their downtime on the links when their schedules permit. The idea of Yamamoto joining this group not only feels fitting but almost inevitable, considering the talent they all possess.
Last October, Yamamoto showcased his skills on baseball’s grandest stage, finishing the 2025 World Series with an impressive record of 3-0 and allowing only two runs over 17.2 innings. He pitched a complete game in Game 2 in Toronto and played a crucial role in the Game 7 victory, earning both the championship title and the MVP trophy.
Now, when he’s not on the mound, he’s embracing the challenge of the fairways.
