‘Young David’ Animated Series Takes Children on a Journey of Faith, Producer Says

A new Bible-based animated series about young David will teach children that they are guided by the same God who guided the future king of Israel every day, executive producers say.

The five-part series will launch in November, with one episode released each month until Easter. You can view it at Mino and angel studio platform.

Mino executive producer and CEO Eric Goss told Christian Headlines that each episode will spotlight a Biblical quality for which David was known. For example, the first episode was called “Warrior.” His other four episodic themes are the King, the Shepherd, the Poet, and the Worshiper.

Goss pointed out that the David in the series is about the same age as the children in the audience, and the characters in the series learn that God is “with me no matter what adversity I'm going through.” He added that he would learn. David learns to be courageous, Goss said.

“And I think for kids, being able to see that really sparks their imagination, because so often we teach kids facts about the Bible. But often, we don't talk much about what facts about the Bible mean to our children.'' Please,” Goss told Christian Headline. “So a lot of people, both parents and children, walk away from these episodes with the hope that there is actually a God who is with me no matter what happens in my life.”

This series is a prequel to a full-length animated film David, Scheduled for theatrical release in 2025.

Books based on each episode are available below. Mino's website.

Goss says the animation is “world class.”

“What's really exciting for us is that we're actually seeing mainstream animation periodicals doing really great coverage of what we're watching. They're I just look at it as a quality piece of work,” he said. “…What we wanted to do was raise the bar of what is expected.”

The filmmakers consulted with rabbis to ensure the Jewish traditions depicted on screen were accurate.

Goss said the series is about David's walk with God and trusting Him for all the good things in life.

“And for kids to actually get a glimpse of that through the media and realize that it's true for them, just as it was true for David, can be really transformative. I think there is. Also, opportunities for parents to discuss with their children, “What does it mean to our family to know that God is involved in what we do as a family?” is also born. ”
