Reports say the “young man” who went for a swim with University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki before disappearing from Punta Cana Beach is being questioned by investigators.
Conanki and the man saw them swimming together on the beach near Riu Republica Resort before they last left there for a walk in their brown bikini after 4am on March 6th. Reported by Dominican Republic outlet Listin Diario.
Reports say they were swimming along with the morning she disappeared.
The 20-year-old was visiting the Dominican Republic for spring break with a group of pitt's classmates when he disappeared without a trace while walking along the beach on Thursday morning.
She and her friends were seen in surveillance footage near the beach before she went missing, and they also found that they were interviewed by police to support the man's story, according to Listin Diario.
It is also unclear whether the man interviewed was one of the school's classmates.
The Indian citizen of Chantilly, Virginia, Conanki, is described as 5 feet 3 with dark hair and brown eyes in the missing poster.
In addition to her distinctive brown bikini, she finally saw her wearing a bracelet on both arms and anklet.
Local governments from numerous agencies have deployed helicopters and drones to scan the water near the beach, but crews are scrutinizing the white sand for signs of what has happened.

Along with the Indian Embassy, the agency of Conanki's House in Virginia is assisting in the search.
The University of Pittsburgh coordinates with her family.
“University officials, like authorities in Loudon County, Virginia, are in touch with Sudiksha Conanki's family and are fully providing support in their efforts to find her and take her home safely,” the school said in a statement.
An unforgettable photo taken before her loss showed Conanki smiling at a resort in Punta Cana just before she disappeared.
