Teenager Shot Near Wembley Stadium
An 18-year-old was shot early Sunday morning outside Wembley Stadium in northwest London, and police are now investigating the incident.
The Metropolitan Police received a call reporting a shooting near Atlantic Crescent at 5:27 AM local time. When officers arrived, they discovered the young man had sustained a gunshot wound.
Authorities quickly transported him to a major trauma center, where he remains in critical condition. So far, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still in its early stages.
The London ambulance service responded just before the police, dispatching a team to handle the emergency. A spokesperson confirmed they treated the victim on-site before his transfer to the hospital.
Local police director, Tony Josephs, is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward, emphasizing the shock this violence has caused in the community. “The investigation is moving quickly,” he noted, while acknowledging the need for thoroughness.
In response to this alarming event, there will be an increased police presence in the area. Southway, a street close to the stadium, has been closed in both directions as forensic teams work on the scene.
Authorities are appealing for public assistance, encouraging even minor details that could help with the case. Police remain cordoned off around the investigation site, continuing their work into Sunday.
