Capt. Michael Curtis told the Potomac Local News, which first reported the incident, that military police had detected the driver “ignoring direct instructions” and “attempting to move the vehicle beyond the hold area.” He said he witnessed it.
Officers were able to activate a no-vehicle barrier, preventing the box truck from proceeding further through the military base.
Curtis said the two suspects were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, but it was not immediately clear whether they were in the country illegally.

“I am deeply concerned about a series of recent attempts to gain unauthorized access to U.S. military facilities, including two in Virginia. The federal government has not provided sufficient information to the Commonwealth of Virginia about these matters, and the facts that have been made public are alarming,” Youngkin wrote in the letter to Biden.
“The attempted break-in at Quantico and the federal government’s silence regarding the immigration status of the individuals involved once again demonstrates the gravity of my failure to notify the Commonwealth of illegal immigrants in order to secure our southern border and keep all Virginians safe,” the governor continued. “Today, I am formally requesting that my public safety and homeland security leadership team and I immediately provide a detailed report on these incidents.”
One of the suspects, believed to have crossed the southern border into California illegally, was cited but “ultimately released,” Youngkin said.
“The second individual is believed to have entered the U.S. on a student visa, which expired in January 2023 due to failure to maintain his enrollment,” Youngkin said. “If he continues to reside in the U.S. without a visa, his residence will be considered unlawful.”
The governor told Fox News Digital that he had not received a response from the Biden administration as of Wednesday.
“Let me be clear: Joe Biden literally brought the border crisis to the front gates of Marine Corps Base Quantico,” Youngkin told the news outlet. “What we know, or at least what was reported, is that two Jordanian illegal immigrants were driving a box truck through a secure gate and were fortunately stopped. ”
