Ben Potter, a popular YouTuber known online as Comicstrean, has died in an “unfortunate accident.”
He was 40 years old.
“Two days ago, on June 8th, my husband Ben Potter passed away in a tragic accident,” his wife, Natalie Potter, said. Posts on his X account on Monday.
“To many of you he was a comic book artist and storyteller in many mediums. To his loved ones he was one of the best and most supportive people anyone could hope for,” his grieving widow wrote to fans.
Natalie explained that off-camera, her husband was the “rock star” of the family, always “doing his best to make everyone laugh and make sure everyone was OK.”
“As a husband, son, brother, friend or just stranger, Ben was a loving and loyal man who made time to listen to those he loved,” she wrote.
“His channel was one of his greatest achievements and we all need time to mourn him, but I know he wouldn’t want it to end like this.”
Potter’s wife said she and her team plan to continue his channel and “honor him by continuing to tell great stories by great people and keep the memory of our superheroes alive.”
“We’ve always supported each other in everything we want to do and we have no plans to stop doing that now.”
His cause of death remains unknown.
Potter launched his YouTube channel in 2014 and has since gained more than 3 million subscribers over the past few years.
He has used his love for comics to create highly successful audio dramas on his YouTube channel.
He is a self-proclaimed comic book nerd. channel Expressing opinions, reviews, and in-depth analysis of various comic book and superhero properties, especially Marvel and DC movie properties.
The superhero enthusiast also runs a gaming channel. Target Monster Gaming The channel, which had around 200,000 subscribers, saw him discuss “video game lore” from fan-favorite franchises like “Assassin’s Creed” and “Resident Evil.”
Potter also had his own eponymous vlog and comics channel. MangastrianA magazine featuring Japanese manga and graphic novels.
His opinions and insights on comics and games made him a beloved figure online, with many fans expressing sadness at the news of his death.
“He did so much for so many people. So devastated to hear this. Rest in peace Ben,” one fan commented on Natalie’s post.
“My condolences. Ben was such an inspiration to me. I’m truly heartbroken,” posted another.
“My heart completely sank after reading this. Oh my goodness…Natalie, I am so sorry for your loss. Ben’s name is so well known in the comics world and is the main reason so many of us relate to the character in the way that we do today. May his soul rest in peace,” wrote another fan.
