Zaccharie Risacher jumps Alexandre Sarr

The 2024 NBA Draft is expected to be a mess.

Without a clear No. 1 pick, this year’s draft, including the two-day event starting on the 26th, is unlikely to be as exciting.

Ironically, the overall lack of talent and uncertainty makes this a dream game for actual sports bettors.

Since a player’s beauty is in the eye of the beholder, even casual fans can take solace in knowing that betting on a player to join the Hawks with the No. 1 overall pick is a worthwhile gamble.

While this is an informed betting market and teams are constantly bringing back deceptive tactics to fool surrounding teams, you’d be wise to find a few trusted reporters and follow their paper trail to bets on who will win at the top of this year’s draft.

French prospect Alexandre Sarr had long been the favorite to go first overall, but that spot has now shifted to fellow Frenchman Zachary Lisacher, who is listed as -125 at FanDuel Sportsbook.

2024 NBA Draft 1st overall pick odds, predictions

It’s hard to predict how Atlanta will approach the draft, as their team on draft day could be very different from the team they had when the season began.

On paper, with Dejounte Murray and Trae Young already in starting roles, it seems unlikely the Hawks would draft yet another guard.

However, the two have been linked in a trade, which could open up an opening in the backcourt.

My No. 1 pick is Connecticut’s Stephon Castle, who is worth a bet at 110/1 if you believe a trade will happen.

The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor is a star freshman 1st place on the big board.

ESPN He rates Lisacher as the top player, followed by Sarr and Huskies star Donovan Clingan.

Do you bet on the NBA?

Clingan was once tipped as high as 20/1 to be the first overall pick, but those odds quickly dropped to +430 after Bill Simmons projected he could be the top pick in the draft.

According to most scouts, he is a strong rim protector and has a good chance of making an outside shot.

While it’s tempting to bet on Castle being the No. 1 pick, and any trades would certainly point in that direction, it looks like this year’s No. 1 pick will be solid wing defender Lisa Satcher.

Pick: Lisacher 1st overall (-110, ESPN BET)
