Zach Bryan Discusses Mental Health Struggles
Country musician Zach Bryan candidly shared his personal battles with mental health in a detailed Instagram post on November 18. He started off by acknowledging his good fortune and urged his 5 million followers not to overlook what he’s experienced.
“I wanted to share this because many people face mental health struggles and often feel isolated. This silence can lead to unnecessary suffering,” he explained. Despite his success, he revealed that he has been grappling with mental health challenges.
Having served in the military for a decade, Bryan noted that stepping into the public eye without fully comprehending its impact took a subconscious toll on him. “I wasn’t happy, but showing weakness wasn’t in my nature or how I was raised,” he elaborated.
He admitted to using alcohol as a coping mechanism. “The reason I turned to alcohol was more than just enjoying the taste; it was about trying to fill a consistent void inside me,” he said. The pressure of being misled, having personal details shared publicly, and supporting friends while maintaining his career led to a lot of added stress.
Bryan opened up about experiencing panic attacks, feeling paralyzed by anxiety even amid success and dreams fulfilled. “I knew I could tackle anything, so it was disheartening to feel this way,” he reflected.
Seeking help, Bryan turned to a therapist and made a decision to address his unhealthy relationship with alcohol. “I haven’t had any alcohol in almost two months now. I needed to do this for clarity,” he stated.
He emphasized the importance of looking at life objectively and noted the unwavering support from his family throughout his journey. “It’s okay to feel weak and ask for help sometimes,” he reassured his followers.
In closing, he expressed hope that his message might resonate with someone in need. “Godspeed everyone! I hope this helps someone,” he remarked.
