Zach Wilson’s Busy Days
The past few days have been eventful for Zach Wilson.
On Sunday, the backup quarterback for the Dolphins celebrated his wife Nicolette’s 24th birthday. This was just a day before Miami suffered a 28-15 loss to Pittsburgh during a prime time game.
On Instagram, Wilson shared a sweet message: “Happy birthday to my best friend, the most beautiful girl in the world. There’s no one I’d rather spend my life with than you. Thank you for always being there for me, loving me the way you do, and making every day better. I can’t wait to grow old together and start the family we’ve always dreamed of. I love you.” His affection was clear.
Nicolette responded, saying, “I love you with all my heart.” The couple tied the knot in a stunning ceremony in New York earlier this summer.
Wilson is currently in his first season with the Dolphins, having signed a one-year, $6 million contract in March. Before this, he spent the 2024 season in Denver and was traded to the Jets last April, hoping to recover from a challenging three-year stretch.
Drafted second overall out of BYU in 2021 by Gang Green, Wilson’s journey has been anything but smooth.
This season, he has played in only three games for coach Tua Tagovailoa’s Dolphins.
Following Monday’s game against the Steelers, Miami’s playoff hopes were dashed, leading to discussions about whether they should evaluate Wilson or seventh-round rookie Quinn Ewers for the remaining three games of the season.
As Joe Shadd of the Palm Beach Post noted, “It’s not unreasonable to think Miami should check out veteran Zach Wilson or rookie Quinn Ewers before the season ends.” He also mentioned that if Coach Mike McDaniel feels pressured to make changes, the final game could be a chance for Ewers to start, especially if the team is at 8-8 and in contention.
Meanwhile, Tagovailoa, in his second year of a four-year, $212.4 million extension, has put up 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions over 14 games.
It’s unclear if the Dolphins will make further changes within the organization after parting ways with General Manager Chris Grier in October.
McDaniel has been at the helm since 2022.
