Zayn Malik recently shared an interesting tale about his daughter’s first lost tooth, revealing that the Tooth Fairy left a substantial reward of nearly $700. His decision to spend this amount has sparked conversations about parenting choices and financial priorities.
In a recent interview, the 33-year-old former One Direction member noted that he feels fortunate to provide a stable life for his daughter, thanks to his success in the music industry. “Call her daddy,” he jokingly commented, underlining his role as a father.
Malik explained that raising his daughter, who is exposed to a different lifestyle given his fame as a pop star and her mother’s modeling career, has influenced his parenting. “I think I may have gone a bit overboard with the Tooth Fairy gift,” he admitted. “It’s her first tooth and her mom brought it to my attention. After all the hard work I’ve done, I want to give her special moments.”
During the interview, host Alexandra Cooper asked for more details about the generosity. Malik confirmed the amount and addressed any potential criticism from others, including his ex-girlfriend, Gigi Hadid. “I’m aware there’s backlash, but my focus is on being a good dad. At the end of the day, I put in the effort during my days off—so rewarding my child feels right to me.”
Malik and Hadid welcomed their daughter Kai in 2020, after an on-and-off relationship that began in 2015. Their romance included high-profile appearances, like Hadid featuring in Malik’s “Pillow Talk” music video. However, they eventually parted ways in 2021 due to family disagreements. Nevertheless, both agree on co-parenting their daughter.
Malik expressed confidence in his parenting choices, recognizing that public opinions might differ. “Sure, people may see things their way, but I’ve worked hard for what I have. It’s all about making my child happy.” He reflected on the idea that parenting often involves a personal commitment to correct past experiences, admitting, “Sometimes I might overcompensate to ensure she feels love and support.”
