Ukrainian Peace Proposal Announcement

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy declared on Tuesday that he is prepared to share the specifics of a new peace agreement with Russia to the United States.

In a social media post, President Zelensky mentioned that Ukrainian and European negotiators had successfully developed a more robust proposal. Previously, Ukraine had dismissed any peace plans that suggested ceding territory to Russia.

“We are actively engaging in all aspects of potential actions aimed at ending the war. The Ukrainian and European components are now being refined and are set to be presented to our American allies. We anticipate collaborating with the U.S. to ensure these actions are feasible,” President Zelenskiy stated.

“Our goal is to achieve genuine peace, and we will maintain ongoing communication with the United States. As our negotiating team colleagues accurately indicate, the effectiveness of our efforts heavily relies on Russia’s willingness to take sincere steps to halt the violence and prevent further escalation. We will soon be ready to provide a comprehensive document to the U.S.,” he added.

U.S. Diplomacy and Frustrations

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump expressed frustration with Zelensky, suggesting that the Ukrainian leader was slow to engage with Russian outreach that occurred over the weekend.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously had a five-hour conversation with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Putin’s Demands

Following their meeting, President Putin went on a state visit to India, where he described discussions with U.S. officials as lengthy yet productive.

Despite the ongoing talks, Putin has remained steadfast in his demands, asserting that the war will only conclude if Russia occupies Ukraine’s eastern region of Donbas or if Ukrainian troops withdraw.
