Zelenskyy vilifies Vance prior to Democratic tour of battleground state

prior to
Touring America's Battleground States Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has questioned whether President Donald Trump can deliver on his promises for peace in Ukraine, given the presence of active Democratic candidates and Harris campaign surrogates in the federal elections, and has described Trump's running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), as an “extremist.”

Zelensky went so far as to suggest that Vance should be “held responsible for potentially starting a world war” if he became vice president and maintained his current views on how to broker peace.

Apparently irritated by Zelensky's comments, Trump was reportedly targeted for assassination on September 15 by individuals obsessed with the Ukraine war. said “Zelensky is the greatest salesman in history. Every time he comes to this country he brings home $60 billion. Billions of dollars! … He is [the Democrats] It's going to be very hard to win this election, but I'm going to do it differently. I'm going to bring about peace.”

in
New Yorker interview In a speech released on Sunday, President Zelensky spoke about his plans to end Russia's war against Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, “The Victory Plan is a plan to rapidly strengthen Ukraine. A strong Ukraine will bring President Putin to the negotiating table.”

“Trump doesn't really know how to stop a war.”

The plan hinges heavily on the United States giving its blessing to Ukraine to use Western long-range missiles to strike targets in Russia, a move Russian President Vladimir Putin has suggested would effectively trigger a combat war with NATO.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibikha
said At a press conference in Kiev earlier this month, he stressed to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy the need to “remove all obstacles and restrictions to the use of British and US equipment against military targets on Russian territory.”

Blinken said:
Announced Meanwhile, in Kiev, U.S. aid to Ukraine has increased by more than $700 million, and the country is buying weapons that the Biden administration has previously blocked for fear of escalation: U.S.-made 190-mile-range supersonic tactical ballistic missiles and British-made Storm Shadow MissileThe range is approximately 155 miles.

“We have long-range weapons, but let's just say that we don't have the quantities we need,” Zelenskiy said on Friday.
Reported CNN. “Neither the US nor the UK have given permission for these weapons to be used on Russian territory.”

The Ukrainian president reportedly indicated that with some persuasion this week, approval might eventually be secured.

Putin said relaxing restrictions on such weapons “would mean that NATO countries, the United States and European countries would be at war with a Russia that has more than 5,000 nuclear warheads.”

Zelensky told The New Yorker that strengthening Ukraine in October, November and December will make Putin “realize an important fact: if he is not ready to end this war in a fair and just way, and would rather continue trying to destroy us, a strengthened Ukraine will not allow him to do so.”

Asked about President Donald Trump's stated desire to end the war quickly, Zelensky suggested that “Trump doesn't really know how to stop a war, even if he could stop it.”
think He knows how to do that.”

“I want to stop wars. I want to save lives,” Trump said during a debate with Senator Kamala Harris.

Asked whether it was in America's best interest for Ukraine to win the war outright, Trump said it was essential to “end this war”, noting that if he were president it would never have started.

When first mentioned
Senator J.D. Vance“He's too extreme,” Zelensky said in an interview with The New Yorker.

Zelensky is Vance's
suggestion Speaking on “The Shawn Ryan Show” podcast, he said a peaceful resolution to the conflict may require Ukraine to cede Crimea and eastern territories currently under Russian occupation to Putin.

“His message seems to be that Ukraine has to make sacrifices.”

“Maybe the current border between Russia and Ukraine will become some kind of demilitarized zone,” Vance said.

“Ukraine will remain independent and sovereign, Russia will get guarantees of neutrality from Ukraine, and Russia will not join NATO or be part of any of its allies,” Trump's running mate said. “That's ultimately what the deal will look like.”

“His message seems to be that Ukraine has to make sacrifices. This goes back to the issue of costs,” Zelensky said.
Who will carry it?The idea that the world would end this war at the expense of Ukraine is unacceptable, but I don't consider this a plan in any formal sense.”

“If someone actually tried to do that, it would be a terrible idea to make Ukraine give up its territory and pay the costs to stop the war,” the Ukrainian president continued, “but this will never happen.”

With just over 40 days until the US presidential election, the foreign minister added that the rise of people with the views expressed by Vance is a “dangerous signal” for Ukraine, and stressed that any president or vice president who dares to suggest that an end to the war “depends on maintaining the status quo and Ukraine simply giving up territory” should be held responsible for potentially sparking a global war.

This is not the first time President Zelensky has criticized Marine Corps veterans.

In a February interview with CNN, the Ukrainian president
said“I don't know [Vance] “I understand what's going on here and I don't need any rhetoric from people who aren't deeply involved in the war.”

Zelensky is due to meet with President Joe Biden later this week.
