DJ Daniel Sworn in as Honorary Agent
Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a 13-year-old cancer survivor, was recently honored as an honorary agent for both the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the US Border Patrol. His journey has been quite remarkable, especially given his battle with terminal brain and spinal cancer.
Since his diagnosis in 2018, DJ has faced numerous challenges, undergoing multiple surgeries. Yet, he has managed to gain recognition from over 1,000 law enforcement agencies across the country, including prestigious departments like the Secret Service. His story has captured the attention of the media, reflecting not just his struggles but also his determination to make a difference, even amid health challenges.
“Amazingly, he surpassed his goals before becoming an honorary ICE Officer,” noted the agency. “DJ’s resolve is an inspiration for all of us, and we are honored to have him on our team.”
On May 13th, DJ was officially sworn in, which attracted media and public attention. In a heartfelt post on Twitter, ICE Deputy Director Madison Xiahan highlighted his commitment and journey across the country to be sworn into various law enforcement agencies.
In a light-hearted moment during a video shared online, DJ reflected on his 13 brain surgeries. He mentioned a recent comment made by Texas lawmaker Jasmine Crockett about his appearance, humorously recalling her remark that she felt she looked like a “burnt marshmallow.” The playful banter added a touch of humor to what has otherwise been a serious discussion around his health.
When asked who he was referring to, DJ identified Crockett, showing that despite his experiences, he still engages with the lighter side of life.
