An elderly Australian man was pushed off a pier in the middle of the night while being filmed by teenagers, prompting onlookers to rescue him from the water.
A shocking video shared on social media shows a group of teenagers taunting each other as they parade down a pier on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula on Sunday night.
“Go, go, go, go,'' said one of the boys, when he saw an old man standing alone on the pier.
The man looked up at the group and saw one of the boys push him off the pier, causing him to fall a considerable distance into the dark water below.
The teens burst into laughter.
“Yes, boys!” one of them shouts before the clip cuts.
3AW Melbourne radio presenter Jackie Felgate said she spoke to Victoria Police and said the teens were known to both police and local residents as “terrorizing residents”. .
The victim was a 79-year-old man who could not swim.
Police said the man was not seriously injured and was pulled from the water by onlookers.
A 14-year-old boy was charged Tuesday with reckless endangerment and unlawful assault.
The boy is scheduled to appear in the Children's Court at a later date.
