Tragic Shooting of 14-Year-Old Football Player in Southern California

A young football talent, just 14 years old, was shot and killed in Southern California. His name was Jeremy Rosales, but everyone called him “Tank.” The incident occurred Friday night close to his home in Victorville, according to law enforcement.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that officers responded to a shooting complaint near Glen Canyon Lane and Burwood Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Rosales was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.

As of now, authorities have not released any details regarding potential suspects or the circumstances surrounding the incident. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to help with funeral and memorial costs.

The campaign highlights that “Tank was more than just a football player.” Friends remember him as someone with a bright smile, a loyal teammate, and someone who treated others like family on the field. “He showed up with heart, grit, and humility,” the fundraiser notes, capturing the essence of his impact on the community. Organizers expressed that his death has deeply affected their community, and they have raised just under $1,500 toward their $12,000 goal.

Rosales, a player for Team Elite Sports Academy, had the reputation of being a formidable presence on the field. Coach Elliott Reyes shared, “He was a hard worker, epitomizing the student-athlete we all want in our program.”

Highlighted was his determination and strong character, traits that endeared him to many. A Facebook post indicated that a vigil will take place in Hesperia at 7:30 p.m. today, where the community plans to honor his memory. The post poignantly stated, “Your life was cut short, but your memory will live forever. We’ll take care of your mother.”

The investigation into this heartbreaking incident continues, with the Sheriff’s Office urging anyone with information to reach out to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit at 909-890-4904.
