Border Patrol agents in the Tucson and Del Rio areas apprehended about 151,000 migrants who illegally crossed the border between ports of entry during December, according to an unofficial report reviewed by Breitbart Texas. The reported concerns shatter previous records for both departments.
Tucson-area agents arrested about 80,000 immigrants in December, breaking a record dating back to the Clinton administration. Del Rio Sector officials also broke a record set about a year ago when they arrested about 71,000 migrants.
The previous record for immigrant arrests in the Tucson area was set in March 2000, when agents encountered 76,245 immigrants, according to U.S. Border Patrol Encounter Reports. Approximately 80,000 migrants were reported in December, exceeding that record by nearly 5 percent.
The previous record for the Del Rio area was set in August 2022, when agents arrested 52,735 immigrants. The arrests of more than 71,000 immigrants in December surpassed that record by nearly 35 percent.
Rounding out the top five sectors along the Southwest border are the San Diego sector (>34,000), the El Paso sector (<34,000)、およびリオ グランデ バレー セクター (>18,000).
Officials at nine border regions in the Southeast apprehended a total of nearly 250,000 migrants in December, according to unofficial Border Patrol reports reviewed by Breitbart Texas. This is about 4.5 percent higher than the Southwest Border Patrol record of 239,289 migrants the Border Patrol recorded in September 2023, according to the report. Of those, he said, more than 125,000 people entered the country through five Texas-based border states.
In the first three months of fiscal year 2024, which began Oct. 1, Border Patrol agents in nine Southwest divisions apprehended 673,000 immigrants who illegally crossed the border between ports of entry.
In the past 12 months, Border Patrol has apprehended more than 2,132,000 immigrants. Since President Joe Biden's first full month in office (February 2021), agents have arrested nearly 6.4 million immigrants. These numbers do not include known or unknown fugitives.
