2024 campaign by President Joe Biden weakens the Democratic party, senior advisor claims in new book

Biden’s Campaign and Harris’ 2024 Prospects

A prominent Democratic consultant has claimed that former President Joe Biden’s second presidential campaign has hindered Vice President Kamala Harris’s chances against Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

David Plouffe, who managed Barack Obama’s campaign and now advises Harris for 2024, shares insights in his upcoming book, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.” He criticizes Biden’s decision to run, suggesting it has caused significant trouble for the Democrats.

“It really falls on Biden,” Plouffe stated in a conversation detailed by CNN’s Jake Tupper and Axios’ Alex Thompson. He went on to express that Harris’s campaign against Trump turned into a “nightmare” largely because of Biden’s actions.

As criticism mounts following an ABC interview where Biden avoided committing to cognitive tests, some are questioning his competencies. Plouffe argues that Biden’s decision to run again, especially as signs of cognitive decline became evident, is damaging to both the party and the nation.

He noted, “I care for Joe Biden, truly. There are few in politics like him. Yet, allowing him to run again has been detrimental,” which raises interesting, though perhaps unsettling, points about voter perception.

Spokespeople for Biden and Harris did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

“The Original Sin” explores the 2024 election campaign and suggests that Biden’s team had essentially concealed how his mental faculties were deteriorating. There are numerous accounts expected to emerge in 2024 that further examine Biden’s cognitive challenges during this critical period.

Interestingly, other works, like “Uncharted: How I Broke Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Wildest Campaign Odds in History,” have also noted how the administration restricted Biden’s social interactions to manage perceptions about his mental state. Concerns about him possibly saying something out of turn—or reflecting poorly on his mental fitness—were quite evident, which very likely contributed to his sense of isolation.
