A coalition of more than 40 sheriffs from 18 states issued a joint statement. letter Addressing the nation on Tuesday, he denounced the Biden-Harris administration's destructive open border policies that have caused a spike in crime and drugs in America's small towns.
In the letter obtained by Daily Caller News Foundationsheriffs expressed “serious concerns for the safety and security of our communities” nationwide, noting that under the current administration, “every town is a border town.”
“The impact is the destruction of families, the loss of futures, and the devastation of communities.”
“Our first duty as sheriffs is to protect the people we serve, but today we face a growing crisis that threatens the very foundations of our country and its sovereignty: our open borders policy.” they are writing.
The sheriffs accused the administration of allowing between 10 million and 15 million foreigners to cross the border illegally, adding that the total was “more than the individual populations of our 46 states.”
By refusing to enforce existing immigration laws, the Biden-Harris administration is “allowing dangerous criminals, human traffickers, and drug cartels to enter American society,” they argued.
“As a result, illegal drugs, especially fentanyl, have flooded our cities and towns. The impact is the destruction of families, the loss of futures, and the devastation of communities,” the sheriff continued.
The Biden administration, Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign and its Democratic allies have repeatedly argued that the only way to stem the immigration crisis is for Congress to pass more laws. Specifically, the so-called “bipartisan” border Senate bill was defeated. Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act; HR815.
But the federation of sheriffs appears to be pushing back against the government's false claim that it does not yet have the power to stop large numbers of illegal immigrants.
“The president alone We can act to solve this crisis. The president can suspend or restrict the entry of noncitizens, declare a national emergency along the border, and direct federal funds to construction of a border wall if deemed to be in the national interest. The Biden-Harris administration is doing none of these things. And we are seeing the consequences,” they wrote.
Sheriff Rich Stanek of Hennepin County, Minnesota. Chad Leonard of Dallas County, Iowa; Adam Infante of Dallas County, Iowa; Mark Lamb of Pinal County, Arizona, was among those who signed the letter.
Another signatory, Sheriff James Custer of Fayette County, Pennsylvania, spoke to DCNF about how the fentanyl crisis has affected the community.
“I've seen this trend continue for the past three years. The fentanyl crisis has reached beyond our nation's southern border. …Our overdose deaths are increasing year after year. '' Custer said. “There has been a slight decline this year, but there have been a few deaths pending toxicology results.”
Klickitat County, Washington Sheriff Bob Songer, who also signed the sheriff's letter, told DCNF, “Personally, I think both the Biden administration and its administrative staff should be charged with treason. They should be charged with treason. has caused this country to collapse.” There are no borders. ”
The Biden-Harris administration and the Department of Homeland Security did not respond to requests for comment from DCNF.
