San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has come a long way since being drafted in 2022, and he credits the power of God with helping him through it.
Brock’s NFL career didn’t necessarily start out well. He was the last player selected in the 2022 NFL Draft at No. 262. But now, just two years later, he’s an MVP candidate and the starting quarterback on a team heading to the Super Bowl.
But while he is now traveling in rarefied air, he is grounded in his faith.
On Tuesday, Purdy, 24, discussed his faith and shared his favorite Psalm verse.
When asked about his favorite poem, Purdy replied: psalm 23”
“I already have what I need from my Good Shepherd, Jesus.”

“‘The Lord is my shepherd. I have what I need. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me to calm waters.'” And then it goes on. ” Purdy said.
“But for me, there’s a lot that goes into playing this game, playing this sport,” the QB added. “It’s easy to get caught up in the need to be loved. Of course, you want to be loved by your teammates and everyone, but also by the world.”
He continued, “To me, this verse says, ‘I already have what I need from the Good Shepherd and from Jesus.'”
The Bible verse is “actually what I start with every day,” he said. “I just read Psalm 23 to myself before I start my day feeling a little lonely.”
Purdy also said that he prays during games, not for wins on the field, but for “peace and fortitude in the midst of chaos.”
“It’s to maintain the calm state of mind that comes from the Holy Spirit,” he explained.

“I never really tried to get a firm grip on my football life,” he says. Said, according to UPI. “I was holding it pretty loosely. And look what God had in store. I remained faithful to Him, and He took me to places I never could have imagined.” He went.”
