5 potential teams for Tyreek Hill in NFL free agency following Dolphins release

The Miami Dolphins Are Restructuring

The Miami Dolphins are making some significant changes.

On Monday, ahead of the official start of the NFL offseason, they released several players, including veteran wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Hill, who is recovering from a dislocated knee that he suffered during the 2025 season, mentioned that he feels “good” about his rehabilitation. Alongside Hill, the team also let go of pass rusher Bradley Chubb, guard James Daniels, and wideout Nick Westbrook-Iguine. This will open up over $56 million in cap space for the Dolphins in 2026, under the leadership of new head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager John Eric Sullivan.

At 31, Hill has faced injuries during much of the offseason and might face a suspension for the upcoming regular season. However, some teams may want to explore his availability.

Here are five teams that might be interested.

The Las Vegas Raiders are anticipated to select quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. It’s crucial they reach out to him for assistance.

In Las Vegas, the pieces are aligning around the quarterback situation. Tight end Brock Bowers is already a standout player, and Ashton Giunty showed promise as a rookie last season. Still, the team needs more playmakers, and signing Hill could definitely provide that boost.

The Tennessee Titans have their eyes set on mirroring the New England Patriots’ surprising “worst-to-first” turnaround. Nashville possesses what it takes to achieve this, following a similar pathway as the Patriots. The team’s second-year quarterback, Cam Ward, already showcased potential in his rookie season, and the new defensive-minded head coach, Robert Saleh, joins in. Plus, like New England, Tennessee has ample cap space leading into the offseason.

One of New England’s strategic moves involved signing veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs as a target for Drake Maye. Could the Titans do something similar and bring in Hill to assist Ward?

While the Los Angeles Chargers don’t have an immediate need for a wide receiver, there are compelling reasons for them to consider Hill. For one, Keenan Allen’s upcoming free agency could affect their roster. Allen had a productive season, catching 81 passes for 777 yards and four touchdowns, and he now holds the franchise record for receptions.

At 34, Allen may not attract a large market, but adding a veteran like Hill could greatly enhance their receiving corps.

Another angle is the connection with Mike McDaniel, the Chargers’ new offensive coordinator, who has worked with Hill during much of his time in Miami. McDaniel knows how to maximize Hill’s potential, not just as a target, but as a decoy to create plays for others.

While a WR isn’t immediately essential for the Chargers, he could provide a significant advantage as they aim for greater success.

In contrast, the Buffalo Bills definitely have a pressing need for a wide receiver. This is evident from recent mock drafts pointing to Denzel Boston and Kevin Concepcion as favorites to fill that gap. Though mock drafts aren’t the whole story, they reflect the NFL media’s perspective on Buffalo’s current WR situation.

Hill may not be at the height of his career following this injury, but if he can regain even half of his speed, he could complement Josh Allen’s passing game remarkably well.

Could Hill find his way back home?

The dynamic receiver began his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, and a reunion with Patrick Mahomes could be beneficial for both. During his four seasons in Kansas City, Hill notched over 1,000 yards, playing a key role in the Chiefs’ victory against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.

Getting Mahomes back to health early this season and adding Hill might just be what Kansas City needs to recover from a disappointing 2025.
