5 Secret Service Officials Involved in Trump’s Butler Rally Placed on Administrative Duty

At least five U.S. Secret Service agents involved in planning former President Donald Trump’s ill-fated July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, have been placed on administrative assignment.

At least five Secret Service agents involved in planning President Trump’s July 13 rally in Butler, where gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks shot the 45th president in the ear, have been placed on administrative duty, according to two sources familiar with the situation. said ABC News.

Secret Service agents are allowed to continue working but are barred from any work related to security planning, the people added.

The agency’s Office of Professional Integrity’s investigation has reportedly expanded beyond the July 13 fiasco to cover classified Iranian threats against President Trump and the Secret Service’s response.

A Secret Service official told the outlet that more senior agents may become embroiled in the investigation.

“The Secret Service is fully committed to its investigation of the decisions and actions of its personnel related to the incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, and the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump,” the service said, adding that a “review of mission assurances is ongoing.”

The Secret Service said it was “investigating the processes, procedures and factors that led to this failed operation.”

As Breitbart News reported, the department has faced strong backlash following the July 13 assassination attempt on President Trump, which left former Fire Chief Corey Comperatore dead and two rally attendees, David Duch and James Copenhaver, seriously injured.

Ten days after the assassination attempt, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned following tough congressional hearings that found her unable or unwilling to answer many key questions from lawmakers about the agency’s failure to protect Trump.

According to an ABC News source, the Secret Service has since installed bulletproof glass around Trump’s podium during outdoor rallies.
