Rapper and actor 50 Cent has criticized California's decision to use tax dollars to pay for medical expenses for illegal aliens.
“This is incomprehensible. It will cost taxpayers $2.6 billion,” 50 Cent said in an Instagram post on Wednesday. “They don’t even give veterans health insurance. [MSNBC anchor Ari Melber] Call my phone now and help me figure this shit out. What do you mean? ”
In his post, he also included an image of California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) above the caption, “California becomes first U.S. state to offer health insurance to all illegal immigrants.”
On Monday, California expanded health insurance under the state program known as Medi-Cal to about 700,000 undocumented immigrants between the ages of 26 and 49.

In 2015, then-California Governor Jerry Brown (D) set a precedent by signing a bill that made Medi-Cal eligible for the children of undocumented immigrants.
In 2019, Newsom expanded its coverage to undocumented immigrants between the ages of 19 and 25. Now, taxpayer-funded health insurance is going one step further, now covering undocumented immigrants ages 26 and 49.
“In California, we believe everyone has the right to access quality, affordable health care coverage, regardless of income or immigration status,” Newsom's office said. Said ABC News on the latest expansion. “Through this expansion, we will ensure that families and communities across California are healthier and stronger and have access to the care they need, when they need it.”
