“Human trafficking and child exploitation are devastating crimes that prey on the most vulnerable in our communities,” the sheriff said.
He added that police rescued 54 adults and 11 children from exploitation during an operation called “Operation Recapture and Reconstruction.” Of those arrested, 40 were suspected of being “sex traffickers or exploiters,” and another 271 were suspected of being “sex traffickers,” including a 14-year-old girl.
