71% of Americans Support Trump's Initiative to Update the Air Traffic Control System

A recent poll reveals that 71% of Americans are in favor of President Donald Trump’s initiative to modernize the air traffic control system, as reported by Breitbart News.

The Trump administration is working on revamping the outdated air traffic control (ATC) system, which still relies on old floppy disks and the Windows 95 operating system. This move comes in light of recent failures that highlighted the urgent need for upgrades to ensure safety and efficiency at American airports.

“This is really one of the most significant infrastructure projects we’ve seen in decades,” said Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy in June. “There’s a consensus on this. It’s bipartisan. We all understand what’s necessary here.” The Department of Transportation hopes to finish these upgrades in four years, though industry experts think that’s a pretty ambitious timeline.

A survey by Fabrizio Lee & Associates, a key organization for Trump, shows significant public support for this ATC overhaul.

According to the survey, 71% of respondents approve of the plan, while 19% disapprove and 10% are undecided.

Moreover, 81% of Americans are supportive of the proposal when informed that it’s part of the Big Beautiful Act, which allocates $12.5 billion to modernize the ATC systems, aiming to reduce delays and enhance safety.

The poll also found that about 80% of Americans are in favor of hiring a federal contractor to modernize ATC systems, emphasizing safety, a strong history of employing skilled American workers, and a clean slate regarding past failures in aviation technology. The ideal contractor would also have experience working with key agencies like the Department of the Army and NASA.

“Voters are clearly worried about our current air traffic control system’s state and largely support President Trump’s plan for modernization. They want to prioritize safety and support American workers while ensuring the contractor has no conflicting interests,” the voting memo states.

It continues: “Private companies meeting these criteria are likely to be well-received by American voters, especially regarding one of the most favorable elements of President Trump’s tax cuts for working families.”
