75-year-old woman from Indiana dies following a physical altercation with a fast food manager

An Indiana woman has passed away after getting involved in a physical altercation with the manager of a fast food restaurant over an order issue.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, 75-year-old Anita Grayson visited a Tim Hortons in Fort Wayne on May 13 to discuss a problem with her drive-thru order.

Once inside the restaurant, Grayson reportedly began physically confronting a 17-year-old female employee, prompting the 20-year-old manager to intervene. He repeatedly asked her to leave, but the situation escalated.

Police noted that Grayson moved toward the juvenile employee, and when the shift leader attempted to intervene, she placed her hands on Grayson to stop her from reaching the minor. The confrontation quickly turned violent, with Grayson reportedly pushing the shift leader backwards and striking her on the face.

In the ensuing chaos, Grayson is said to have knocked off the manager’s glasses, dragging her to the ground by her hair. Surveillance footage captured the argument, showing Grayson forcing her way into the conflict.

As other employees tried to break up the two, Grayson allegedly pulled a clump of hair from the shift leader’s head. Soon after, she sat down at a nearby table, made a phone call, and then placed the clump of hair in her bag.

About ten minutes later, when a shift leader checked on her, Grayson was found unresponsive on the floor. Paramedics attempted to revive her before transporting her to the hospital, where she was later declared dead.

Following an autopsy by the Allen County Coroner’s Office, it was reported that Grayson had “no significant contributing injuries.” The cause and manner of her death remain unclear, and an investigation file has been forwarded to the local prosecutor.

The Fort Wayne Police Department acknowledged the public’s concerns regarding the incident, stating, “The loss of life is tragic.” They emphasized the need for a thorough investigation when death circumstances are not transparent.

Grayson’s daughter expressed distress over the events leading to her mother’s death, stating, “You can’t go into a coffee shop, have coffee and donuts, and come out lifeless. That’s atrocious.”

A GoFundMe campaign set up by her loved ones describes Grayson as a “God-fearing, loving-spirited woman” who dedicated her life to family and faith. The fundraiser notes her selflessness and the deep impact she had on those around her.
