Government Cancels Green Energy Funds Amid Shutdown

On Wednesday, Management and Budget Director Russ Vought announced the cancellation of green energy funding as the federal government faced a shutdown bolstered by Democrats.

Shortly after government funds lapsed early that morning, Vought took to X to share the news.

“Nearly $8 billion in funds designated for climate initiatives backed by Democrats have been cancelled,” he posted, noting that further information would be provided by the Department of Energy.

Locations affected by the cut include several states with blue political leanings:

This decision followed an earlier announcement from the White House regarding the suspension of $18 billion in infrastructure projects in New York City due to the shutdown.

In a response to inquiries from Breitbart News the day before the government closure, former President Trump stated that his administration preferred to keep the government operational. He suggested that Democrats were pushing for the shutdown by blocking funding resolutions that would continue government operations at Biden-era levels.

“They’re shutting it down. We’re not shutting it down,” Trump said, emphasizing the record investments made during his administration.

He also mentioned that the shutdown could lead to challenging management decisions that Democrats might regret in the long run. “After all, when you shut down, it creates opportunities for implementing measures they typically favor,” he added.

Trump characterized the situation as risky for the Democrats, implying that they were prioritizing issues such as healthcare access for undocumented immigrants, which he claimed was central to their motivations.
