Arrest Made in Double Homicide Case in Los Angeles
Los Angeles police have taken a 22-year-old man into custody, suspected of murdering an American Idol music director and her husband during an incident at their home last week.
The suspect, identified as Raymond Boudarian from Encino in the San Fernando Valley, is believed to have killed 70-year-olds Robin Kay and Thomas DeLuka at their residence on White Oak Avenue.
Authorities discovered the bodies around 2:30 PM on Monday during a welfare check, prompted by concerns from individuals who hadn’t heard from the couple in several days.
Police suspect Boudarian entered the home through an unlocked door while Kay and DeLuka were out, returning later while they were still gone.
According to the LAPD, the situation escalated when the suspect took his own life as the confrontation unfolded. The victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect managed to flee the scene on foot.
At a press conference, LAPD Lieutenant Guy Golan expressed the department’s search for a motive behind the attack. “It appears to be a random assault,” he noted, explaining that the house showed no signs of being ransacked. This raises questions about the potential motives involved.
“Clearly, theft may not have been the reason; it seems more arbitrary based on the information we have at this point,” he added.
The police received a radio call about a possible robbery at the house around 4 PM on Thursday. Golan mentioned two calls were made regarding someone jumping the fence and entering the couple’s property.
Upon arrival, police were unable to access the property due to security measures in place. The discovery of the suspect’s intrusion was later confirmed through surveillance footage.
Golan explained, “The suspect cut through one of the fences and was able to enter through unsecured doors.” He also mentioned that Boudarian was inside the house for about 30 minutes before the couple returned.
The firearm used in the incident has not been found, but the suspect was apprehended at his Encino home around 3 PM on Tuesday without any further incident.
