Travel Woes of Chris Russo

We all have that one travel nightmare story, don’t we? Chris Russo recently shared his. During a segment on ESPN’s “First Take,” he spent over ten minutes recounting his disastrous trip, particularly his frustrations with airline travel.

Known as the “mad dog,” Russo’s European vacation turned into a real mess. It all started with a JetBlue flight from JFK to Edinburgh, leading to multiple complications and even a call to the police in London.

In his passionate recounting, he exclaimed, “Want to fly to Scranton, Pennsylvania? JetBlue is for you! But if you’re heading somewhere like Edinburgh? What a joke! They kept us waiting until 1:44 AM, and it was chaos from there!”

Russo’s journey also involved a trip to Dornoch, Scotland, where he planned to play golf with his son Tim. However, things didn’t go as smoothly as he’d hoped. Tim had a lengthy layover, traveling from Phoenix to Dallas, then London, and finally Inverness, before they both drove to Dornoch.

Upon arrival, disaster struck. Russo struggled to locate Tim’s golf clubs, which were lost amidst the travel chaos. “It took me two and a half hours to find the club at Heathrow! They had no clue where it was!” he ranted. “Tim needed his clubs for the game! Eventually, I got a ticket stub, but they wouldn’t let me take the clubs out of the airport. I said, ‘Timmy, they’re yours, but your dad paid for them!’”

Worse yet, Tim’s club ended up stuck at Heathrow overnight. “British Airways didn’t return it to us on Saturday,” Russo lamented. When he pressed for answers, the staff simply said, “It’s protocol, sir.” Russo wasn’t having it. “I don’t care about the protocol! Just get the golf club where it needs to be!”

Miraculously, he managed to avoid any trouble with the authorities upon arrival. When asked if he almost faced arrest, he chuckled, “Close! The policeman came over, and I told him, ‘I’m fine, just relax.’”

Travel really can bring out the most frustrating experiences. Chris Russo’s tale is a reminder of how quickly things can go awry, turning an anticipated trip into a saga of unexpected chaos.
