Treasury Sanctions Leaders of Venezuelan Gang
On Thursday, the Treasury sanctioned Hector Lucenford Guerrero Flores, known as “Ne Guerrero,” along with five other prominent members of the dangerous Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua.
The Office of Foreign Assets Control has stated that all assets and profits belonging to Guerrero Flores, as well as those of his associates, will be frozen within the jurisdiction of the United States.
This measure also extends to entities that hold a majority interest in Guerrero Flores, his wife, Wendy Marbury Rios Gomez, and three other senior figures associated with Tren de Aragua, preventing them from engaging in transactions with U.S. citizens.
“Today’s actions underscore the crucial roles played by leaders like Niño Guerrero and his associates,” officials remarked.
Moreover, a statement highlighted the commitment of the Trump administration to prevent Tren de Aragua from threatening communities and harming innocent Americans. “In line with President Trump’s mission to ensure safety, the Treasury is focused on dismantling Tren de Aragua and interrupting their violent activities,” they added.
Earlier this year, in February, the State Department officially labeled the gang a foreign terrorist organization and recognized it as a cross-border criminal group several months later.
In fact, as of July of last year, the State Department had even offered a $5 million reward for information leading to Guerrero Flores’ arrest.
