Trump Sues Wall Street Journal Over Article
Donald Trump is taking legal action against the Wall Street Journal regarding an article they published. In a post on Truth Social, he mentioned he had warned the newspaper that he would pursue a lawsuit if they printed what he considered a “fake” story.
He stated, “President Trump will soon sue the Wall Street Journal, Newscorp, and Murdoch. The media needs to be truthful and not rely on dubious sources.” Trump emphasized that he directly informed the Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch about what he believed were fake letters linked to Jeffrey Epstein, suggesting they would face legal consequences if they published them. He claimed Murdoch promised to handle the situation, but it seems nothing was done.
The Wall Street Journal, according to Trump, was notified by him and others that these letters were fake, yet they disregarded the warning. He criticized the piece, labeling it as “false” and “malicious,” showing an apparent desperation for relevance. Trump pointed out that if there had been any truth regarding the Epstein matter and its connection to him, it would have surfaced much earlier, considering key figures in government had the opportunity to reveal such information.
The article in question alleges that Trump sent a “bawdy” birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein back in 2003. CNBC reported that this letter, which Trump allegedly signed, was part of an album Epstein received on his 50th birthday, reportedly at the request of Epstein’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. The letter was mentioned to have been written long before Trump faced criticism during his presidency concerning child sex trafficking operations linked to Epstein.
Uncertainty remains whether the birthday album is among the documents the Department of Justice recently reviewed. CNBC has reached out to both the Department of Justice and the White House for comments regarding the letter and album.
