Murder of Music Producer and Husband in California
The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that Robin Kay, an award-winning music producer known for her work on “American Idol,” along with her husband, Thomas Delca, were tragically shot and killed at their home in California. It appears that the suspect in their deaths had previously evaded prosecution for three other violent crimes.
Robin Kay, who served as the music director for various shows, including “Lipsync Battle” and “Hollywood Game Night,” also managed music for events like Miss USA, Miss Universe, and the NAACP Image Awards.
According to reports, a violent confrontation broke out when the couple returned to their home and found the suspect inside. This struggle ended with the tragic loss of Delca’s life.
Kay and Delca were residing in a mansion in the Encino area, which is now under heightened security measures as investigations continue.
Officers responded to a welfare check around 2:30 PM on a recent Monday, only to discover both victims deceased at the scene. They were both 70 years old.
Investigators believe the suspect entered the home on July 10, facilitated by an unlocked sliding door. Surveillance footage indicated the intruder had been inside for about half an hour before the couple returned.
Lieutenant Colonel Guy Golan of the Los Angeles Police stated, “When the homeowners returned to their residence, a violent struggle continued between them and the suspect.” He also mentioned that the incident seemed random in nature.
Authorities found a handgun at the suspect’s home, which they suspect may be the murder weapon, although forensic analysis is still pending.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Raymond Boudarian, was arrested the following Tuesday. Reports of his prior violent behavior surfaced, including incidents involving threats with a knife in 2023 and other attacks against family members. However, these charges were dismissed late last year, with court documents citing Boudarian’s mental incompetence.
Concerns about his previous arrest records have raised questions about why he wasn’t kept off the streets. Some sources are calling for reevaluation of the system that allowed his previous releases.
Interestingly, the couple had been victims of a home invasion just a few months prior. Guy Cohen, a security expert who was consulted by Kay and Delca, expressed his heartbreak over the incident, noting, “It’s devastating to think we couldn’t prevent this.”
A representative from “American Idol” shared that Kay was a cherished member of their community and expressed deep condolences for her family and friends during this harrowing time.
