Mamdani, the nominee for mayor in NYC, does not respond to being called a 'communist'

Exclusive: Zoran Mamdani, the Democratic candidate for mayor in New York City, declined to comment when pressed by journalists about critics labeling him a communist or whether he would retract any of his left-wing statements.

While standing outside his residence on Friday, Mamdani laughed at these inquiries. He avoided a direct answer despite the increasing competition from current Mayor Eric Adams, former Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Republican Curtis Sliwa.

Prominent figures like former President Donald Trump and his son, Donald Trump Jr., have referred to Mamdani as “Communist,” and some have even labeled him a socialist.

Mamdani’s father is connected to anti-Israel groups linked to terrorism, condoning suicide bombings.

In one statement, Trump Jr. remarked, “It’s finally happened; the Democrats have crossed the line. Zoran Mamdani, a full-scale communist, has just won the Democratic primary and is on his way to potentially becoming mayor.”

He further criticized Mamdani’s capabilities, saying, “He looks terrible, his voice is grating, and, well, he supports AOC and is even backed by Senator Chuck Schumer.”

During a recent interview, Trump Jr. posited that the situation could serve as “Florida’s biggest marketing campaign.”

Social media posts have surfaced showing Mamdani’s father’s extreme anti-Israel stance, describing it as a “Colonial Occupation.”

Amidst all this, concerns have been raised about what Mamdani’s potential election would mean for New York. As someone who has long been tied to the city, he himself acknowledged, “That’s a frightening prospect, but perhaps it’s what America needs.” Mayor Adams has pointed out Mamdani’s previous remarks, including a May 2020 tweet referencing Marx, which he shared during a dialog with Fox News Digital.

There are clips circulating that highlight Mamdani discussing housing accessibility, emphasizing that, “My platform suggests everyone should have a home.” He seemed to wrestle with thoughts about the reality facing so many people in the system without adequate shelter.

Failure to clarify his positions might raise alarms within the Democratic Party.

Mamdani expressed, “If a system can guarantee housing for everyone, whether you label it abolition of private property or a statewide housing guarantee, it’s a step up from the current situation.”

Controversy continues, with R-NY asserting, “If he claims the ideas of socialism include abolishing private property or controlling means of production, those are directly out of Marx’s playbook.”

Mamdani is set to meet with Hakeem Jeffries, House Democratic leader, in New York City on Friday.
