AI and blockchain are challenging the traditional education system.

Artificial intelligence and blockchain are shaking up traditional education by broadening access through new credential systems and AI-driven content.

John von Seggern, an online educator who founded The FutureProof Music School—an online platform teaching electronic music production—is utilizing AI tools to help students organize and enhance their coursework.

He mentioned that he aims to introduce blockchain-based credentials for his course participants, giving proof that they have completed the program and grasped the material effectively.

“I was involved in getting my last school accredited and noticed quite a few challenges throughout that process,” he explained. “There’s a growing trend globally to apply blockchain for issuing, sharing, and verifying educational experiences and qualifications.” A report from the OECD suggests that blockchain technology enables immediate verification of claims regarding individuals or institutions, providing a high degree of certainty.

“This can help eliminate record tampering. It will also promote the movement of learners and workers between different institutions and locations, empowering individuals by giving them more control over their data,” the report continues. Analysts believe that the fusion of blockchain and AI might significantly disrupt education, healthcare, and content creation.

Other cryptocurrency initiatives utilize blockchain and AI for education

By merging blockchain credentials with AI-generated content, students can enjoy greater verifiability without borders along with more accessible courses.

In January, Open Campus introduced its layer 3 blockchain, the EDU Chain, which is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) focused on educational applications.

The EDU Chain is designed to securely store tamper-proof, immutable, and verifiable student qualifications and certificates.

During Token2049 in Dubai, Binance’s co-founder CZ expressed his ambition to educate 1 billion children through Giggle Academy, a free online platform aimed at children’s education. He also noted that Generator AI played a crucial role in developing the course material for this project.
