Scott Jennings Disagrees with Democratic Strategist's Claim That Trump Voters Will Skip the 2026 Election

Republicans Respond to Democratic Strategies for 2026 Elections

Scott Jennings, a Republican strategist, has countered claims made by Democratic strategist Chuck Rocha regarding the 2026 elections. Rocha suggested that reducing “motivation” among Republican voters could be key, especially in light of President Trump’s challenges related to Jeffrey Epstein and Ukraine.

Despite difficulties around document processing linked to Epstein, Trump’s approval rating among Republicans has actually increased. During a segment on “CNN Newsroom,” Rocha pointed out that Epstein is a significant issue for Trump’s supporters and could negatively impact mid-term Republicans. In response, Jennings highlighted the rising approval ratings for Trump, arguing against Rocha’s assertion that Trump’s base was uninspired when it came to Ukraine.

Jennings expressed that the focus should not be solely on Trump, but rather on the motivation of all Republicans. He noted, “This is the classic ‘dog that finally caught the car’,” emphasizing that energizing the base is crucial in any election cycle, which he has observed over three decades.

He added, “This isn’t ideal for motivating their base. Supporting Ukraine is a contentious issue for many of them, and these dissatisfaction points can lead to cracks in enthusiasm.” Jennings affirmed that the upcoming elections would largely hinge on motivational factors, asserting that Trump still commands a strong base of support.

On July 14, Trump announced that the U.S. would supply arms to Ukraine through NATO, representing a shift in previous policies. Jennings remarked on Trump’s grounding in his base, stating, “His numbers among Republicans are so strong that there’s little room for growth.” He continued, “Regardless of the controversies, those numbers are undeniable among his supporters.”

Recent polls from Quinnipiac University indicated that Trump’s approval rating among Republicans had surged to 90%. Similarly, a CNN/SSRS survey reported an 88% approval among the same group. Furthermore, CNN’s chief data analyst noted that Congressional Democrats’ net approval rating has dipped, highlighting dissatisfaction within their ranks.

In summary, while Trump’s support remains robust among Republican voters, the Democrats are facing challenges as they head into the mid-term elections, with motivation and approval ratings playing a significant role in shaping the upcoming political landscape.
