Rahm Emmanuel Discusses Gender Issues on Megyn Kelly Show
Former Chicago mayor Rahm Emmanuel recently shared his views on gender-related topics during an interview with Megyn Kelly. He expressed his disagreement with the idea of placing biological men in women’s prisons.
In connection with a significant event from July, the Trump administration took action at the University of Pennsylvania regarding Leah Thomas, a biological male athlete. They requested that Thomas relinquish records and titles gained while competing in women’s NCAA swimming. As Emmanuel appeared to be considering a potential 2028 presidential run, he provided conservative-leaning responses to Kelly’s rapid-fire questions during their two-minute segment.
Kelly posed a direct question, asking, “Do you believe boys can play girls’ sports?” Emmanuel answered with a quick “No.”
When asked about minors taking cross-sex hormones, Emmanuel suggested that such decisions should be left to parents, stating, “They are too young to make that decision on their own.” He emphasized that families should carefully consider these choices.
Later in the discussion, Kelly touched on Minnesota’s policy allowing minors to seek jurisdiction for gender changes without parental consent. Emmanuel acknowledged the complexities of the issue, saying, “These are life decisions. I have two tensions affecting my opinion.” He maintained that children should not be making such significant choices without the involvement of their parents, highlighting the importance of moral development.
Emmanuel also stated that biological men undergoing gender transitions should not be placed in women’s prisons. This conversation aligns with the ongoing discourse surrounding transgender issues, especially after Leah Thomas competed in the 2022 NCAA Championship, which brought these discussions to the national forefront.
The presence of biological men in women’s sports has sparked controversy, as seen when certain university teams opted to forfeit matches against San Jose State’s women’s volleyball team due to the inclusion of biological men on the roster.
As Emmanuel contemplates a presidential bid in 2028, he has labeled the Democratic brand as “weak and awakened,” further commenting that it has become “toxic.” His opinions on these pressing societal issues reflect a key part of his political strategy going forward.
